Our next tasting of 3 whites and 5 reds will be delivered on Tuesday 5th October . Please confirm by Sunday 3rd October. It will be the usual £15
The wines are
Kaap Plaas Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Western Cape 2019 A very dry wine from this classic Bordeaux blend. A surprising length and finish for this price range. Drink by itself or with fish and seafood
Diez Siglos Verdejo Ecológico 2020 Farmers are realising that with a little more care, they receive a higher price for their grapes and the vineyards soil improves. This vibrant wine from Rueda, is crisp and zesty like a good Sauvignon blanc.
Tenuta Aquilaia Vermentino 2020. This new Vermentino from coastal Tuscany is receiving rave reviews and recently won a gold medal in the International Wine Challenge. Aromatic fruit and great length. Ideal with with almost anything.
Domaine du Pré Baron, Touraine Gamay 2019 Gamay is normally linked with the warmer Beaujolais area, but when grown in the Loire it produces a more structural wine. Still very quaffable. The Wine Merchant top 100 awarded this wine the Best Value red Trophy.
Domaine Mas Barrau Cabernet Franc, Pays du Gard [Organic] 2019 Winemaker, Guillaume Letang looked specifically for vines which are south-facing, and thus receive the most sunlight, to source the Cabernet Franc grapes for this wine .Lovely bramble fruit which will be very happy drunk alongside lamb shanks.
Novas Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon, Maipo Valley [Organic] 2017 Classic Chilean Cabernet full of blackcurrant and atouch of oak. Medium bodied and well balanced with ripe black fruits, smooth tannins and refreshing acidity, resulting in a juicy and approachable Cabernet. This drinks very well and will be ideal with winter casseroles.
Circle of Life Red, Stellenbosch 2017 The 4 grape varieties in this blend are Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. All organically grown and brought to the winery by horse. A bright juicy wine that will matcy roast meat etc.
Paco Mulero Monastrell 2018 Powerful chunky wine from the hot arid area of Jumilla near Valencia. This warmth brings out the best in the Monastrell grape and with 6 months aging in new oak barrels add to the complexity of this wine. A definite wine to keep.
