Spanish Cheese & Wine tasting
13th July
We are offering this classic combination of cheeses and wines on 13th July at
Kro bar, Heaton Moor.

it is well known that red wines combine well with cheeses. What tends to be
more surprising is how well whites wines contrast with cheeses ie Sauvignon
blanc and goats cheese are wonderful. Also the mixture of strong blue cheeses
with dessert wines are another option. The French and Italians have always
believed that the best wines should go with the cheeses. They have always
thought that their big reds Amarone, Cote Rotie are too strong for main
courses.

We will be buying most of the cheeses on our visit to Andalucia

We have received some new Spanish wines from Galicia, Rueda and Costers del
Segre.the wines from rueda are  frsh and zesty and agood example of the
Verdejo
grape variety. he Pazo from Galicia is stunning. This delicious and enticing
Spanish white is packed with fresh, seductive floral aromas, delicate camomile
apple and pear flavours on the palate with a really vibrant and long finish.

This high quality un-oaked white comes from the Monterrei region of Spain
which is situated just to the north of Portugal and quite close to the famed
white wine region of Rias Baixas. Monterrei is a small region with a unique
micro-climate and terroir. The  local grapes used are. a blend of Treixadura
and Godello. Then we move east towards the French border and the little known
area Costers del Segre and its leading winery Castell del remei, dating back
to
1780, is not only the star of the DO Costers del Segre but has played a key
role in the history of Spanish wine.
We shall 2 wines drom this area Oda Blanca and a red Gotim Bru. We went to a
tasting of Murcian wines and the wine that stood out by amile was the silver
lavel Monastrell by J.Gill, from Jumilla. Thus we have to show this wine.

We have also included a red  that is not Spanish. We  had to include an
italian red that has received a fantastic review from sommelier Ollie Smith
who
compared the Conan Barbera with Penfolds grange which sells for over £250 a
bottle. Even if he is only half right it still makes the wine a bargain.

The wines to taste are..
K Naia
Naia
Oda Blanca
Pazo de monterrey

Gotim Bru
Silver label monastrell
sarria Moscatel
Conan barbera

All these wines and cheeses will be available on Tuesday 13th July at 8.00pm.
